These go back to a post about a month ago. They are the final remains of two gigantic (to me anyway) trees we had in the backyard. This is what is left of the trees, the stumps, literally hacked and leveraged out of the ground. Except for an hour of chain-saw work, the rest is all manual (double-axe mostly).
And now, we plant!

This seems all the rage here in La Jolla. When one landscapes; don’t just put in a small tree that will grow up in a few years, just buy the thing fully grown and plug it in wherever. This shot is from yesterday and these trees are not really that big. There were some dropped in up on Virginia Street a couple months ago that were so large that each had its own semi to deliver it and my personal favorite are the “instant” palms. I have no idea where the things come from, but they are huge and must cost a fortune.
